A full Mill+ creative assignment, directed by Ben Smith, this cinematic journey through the history of the Marines incorporated CG sculpting, a constantly moving camera, and dynamic lighting all leading to a powerful final reveal. We were brought into the pitch late, which meant a deep dive into visuals and stories that would be relevant for the film. On top of the extensive research, our team also examined artistic elements and references that would elevate the project beyond a transition-led montage into something more thoughtfully crafted that would be appropriate living in a fine art gallery.

One of the technical challenges we faced was the need to continuously adapt and modify the model as the individual scenes and elements evolved throughout the creative process. Procedural textures and shading were necessary and a system was developed to apply updates in the lighting stage of production.
